The 20-channel video installation was created in connection with a new installation work, Uranometria, featuring constellations as motifs, which was exhibited on the rooftop of Higashikitazawa Station.
The starting point of this work stemmed from the subtle distortions and discomfort in bodily sensations, as well as the expansion of perception, that I had felt throughout my artistic practice of
moving between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms, giving shape to things invisible to the eye.
The title Uranomorphia is a coined word combining "Urano," meaning "sky" or "universe" in ancient Greek, with "morphe," meaning "to form or shape." Through the visualization of constellation forms and cosmic structures, it breaks free from the constraints of the physical world and depicts a visual realm that transcends everyday perception.
